Obaidul Quader’s mother passes away

Dhaka: Begum Fazilatunnesa, mother of Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, passed away in a Dhaka hospital on Monday night. She was 92.
She breathed her last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) around 10:35pm, said its Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan.
He said Fazilatunnesa was admitted to the hospital on February 23 after she suffered a stroke.
She left behind five sons, five daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death.
Bashurhat municipality mayor Abdul Quader Mirza, also Obaidul Quader’s brother, said Fazilatunnesa will be buried at their family graveyard at Majhondighi in the municipality area under Companyganj upazila of Noakhali following a namaz-e-janaza at Govt Mazid College ground after Zohr prayers on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Fazilatunnesa.
In a condolence message, she prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family members.
