Habiganj: A trader leader was hacked to death by miscreants in rail gate area in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj on Thursday morning.

The deceased is Abul Hossain alias Akol Miah, in his sixties, president of Chunaughat Bazar Babsayi Kallayan Samity and upazila unit president of Alhe Sunnat Wal Jamaat.

Local sources said miscreants suddenly attacked Abul with sharp weapons when he was returning home after his Fazr prayers in the morning, leaving him seriously injured.

Later, locals sent him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital but he died on the way to hospital.

Contacted, KM Azmiruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Chunarughat Police Station, confirmed the death incident but could not say anything about the motive of the killing.
