The death toll from mudslide while extracting stones from a hillock in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet rose to three with the recovery of two more bodies early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Kasa Mia, 45, Jahir Hossian, 36, and Afaz Uddin, 35 while the injured as Abdul Gani, 55, reports the UNB.

Earlier on Wednesday, a worker was killed, two others went missing and another was injured in a mudslide while they were extracting stones from a hillock.

Later, police and fire service men recovered the bodies of Jahir and Afaz around 1:30am, said Companiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Abul Lais.

Earlier on Sunday, five workers were killed and three others injured in a similar incident at Bholaganj quarry in the same upazila.
