Dr Zafar Iqbal being brought to Dhaka at PM’s directives
At the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, renowned writer and Professor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal is being brought to Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH) from Sylhet for better treatment.
‘Dr Zafar Iqbal, who sustained a knife attack on the SUST campus, is being brought to Dhaka CMH for better treatment by an air ambulance at the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,’ said PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, reports BSS.
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina strongly condemned the attack on Dr Zafar Iqbal and directed the authorities concerned to bring the perpetrator to justice.
The premier is constantly enquiring about Zafar Iqbal, who is now undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital after the attack, the press secretary said.
Zafar Iqbal was stabbed by an unidentified youth on the SUST campus in Sylhet on Saturday afternoon.
SUST student Asif Ajhar, who witnessed the incident, said Iqbal came under attack just he was returning to ICT Bhaban of the campus after attending an academic festival of his Electronics and Electrical Engineering (EEE) department in the university’s central auditorium.
