Manikganj: Ferry service on the Paturia-Daulatdia route was suspended early on Wednesday due to dense fog obscured visibility.

Mahiuddin Russel, manager of BIWTA Aricha, said suddenly, the area was enveloped in thick fog, forcing them to suspend the ferry service at about 4:00am.

Five ferries remained stranded at Daulatdia and five at Paturia ghat.

Besides, six ferries stayed stranded in the mid-river due to blared visibility caused by the dense fog.

About 200 vehicles, including buses, private cars, microbuses and goods-laden trucks, remained stranded along with several hundred passengers on both ends to the important route and in the mid river.

However, the ferry service could not resume till filing this report at about 9:30am.
