Freedom Fighter Ferdousi Priyabhashini passes away

Dhaka: War Hero and noted sculptor Ferdousi Priyabhashini died undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon. She was 71.
Priyabhashini, who was also a freedom fighter, breathed her undergoing treatment at Lab Aid Hospital at about 12:45pm, said her son Karu Titash.
The Independence Day Award winner admitted to the hospital on 8 November 2017, as she was suffering from multiple complications including diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.
She was rushed to the hospital after falling over in her Gulshan residence and went into a shock on 8 November afternoon.
Later, she was being kept under treatment at coronary care unit (CCU) of the hospital.
Ferdousi Priyabhashini, who was persecuted by Pakistani occupation army and its local collaborators during the War of Liberation in 1971, obtained the freedom fighter status on 11 August 2016.
Born in 19 February 1947 in Khulna, Priyabhashini was a sculptor. Since 1990, she exhibited her works through exhibitions. Her first exhibition was jointly inaugurated by artist SM Sultan and poet Sufia Kamal, and anchored by Syed Shamsul Haque.
The 2015 play Jamuna draws inspiration from Priyabhashini's life and artwork.
