Dhaka: Three CNG-run auto-rickshaw garages and one shanty were gutted in a fire that broke out in the garage at North Goran in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area early Thursday.

The fire originated at a garage around 12:45am and soon engulfed adjacent garages and shanty.

On information, three units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after one hour of frantic efforts, said inspector Ataur Rahman of Fire Service and Civil Defense headquarters.

The estimated losses caused by the fire are about Tk 40 lakh, the fire official said, adding that fire fighters recovered valuables worth about Tk 60 lakh.
