Tangail: Detectives on Wednesday pressed charges against 14 people, including Awami League MP from Tangail-3 Amanur Rahman Rana and his three brothers, in the freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed murder case.

Golam Mahfizur Rahman, district Detective Branch Inspector and the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet against them to the chief judicial magistrate court in the evening, police super of the district Saleh Mohammad Tanvir told reporters around 9pm.

The charge-sheeted accused include Rana’s brothers Saniat Khan Bappa, Shahidur Rahman Khan Mukti and Zahidur Rahman Khan Kakon.

The IO said they submitted the charge sheet against 14 accused as they were found involved with the killing.

Faruk Ahmed, an AL senior leader and a freedom fighter, was shot to death in the district town on January 18, 2013.

Victim’s wife Nahar Ahmed filed a murder case against some unidentified people on January 21 in this connection.
