Myanmar citizen carrying 80 bullets held
Cox’s Bazar: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested a Myanmar citizen carrying 80 bullets from Habirchhara area in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday, reports local news agency.
BGB Battalion 2 in a press release said, tipped off, a team of the border force intercepted a Teknaf-bound bus from Cox’s Bazar in the area and arrested Mohammad Salam, resident of Khullam under Mongdu thana in the Arakan state of Myanmar, at about 4:15pm.
Later, BGB members recovered 80 bullets after searching his bag.
There were also found a chit written in Urdu and cash Tk1,560 during the search.
During primary interrogation, the arrestee admitted himself to be a member of the Arakan unit of Islamist militant outfit Mujahedeen Jamaat-e-Islami.
Salam also confessed that he was carrying the bullets from one Kadir of Pahartoli in Chittagong following instruction of the outfit’s leader Ismail.
A case was filed against the arrestee with Teknaf police accusing him of entering the Bangladesh territory illegally.
