BNP to brief diplomats on Khaleda Zia issue at 4:00pm
Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior leaders are going to brief foreign diplomats stationed here on Wednesday afternoon on the country’s overall situation and the development over its Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s case in which she was sentenced to five years’ jail.
The BNP leaders are scheduled to hold the meeting with foreign envoys at 4pm at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office, said Khaleda Zia’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
A senior party leader said a group of BNP leaders, led by its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, will apprise the diplomats of the party’s observations about the Supreme Court verdict that stayed the bail for Khaleda and the government’s attitude towards Khaleda and her party.
This will be the second meeting between BNP leaders and diplomats since Khaleda Zia was sent to jail in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8.
Five days after Khaleda Zia was imprisoned, senior BNP leaders had a meeting with the diplomats of around 15 countries on March 13 at the same venue.
