Dhaka: Necessary steps have been taken to stop question paper leakage during the upcoming HSC examination, said Shaikh Nazmul Alam, a Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday.

The police officer was speaking at a round table discussion on ‘Obligation to Stop Question Leakage’ under the aegis of Crime Reporters’ Association Bangladesh (CRAB) held at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

Nazmul Alam said, ‘This time more security measures will be taken in printing and distribution of question papers.’

The DMP Joint Commissioner urged the authorities concerned to bring about necessary changes in the system to stop question leakage in all public examinations.

Observing that the question papers are still packaged manually, he underscored the need for digitalising Bangladesh Government Printing Press (BG Press). There a chance exists, for the dishonest staffs, to memories questions and leak those after returning from the press, he said suggesting that public examination question papers should not be printed from BG Press until it is digitised.

Nazmul also insisted to amend the Public Examination (Offences) Act - 1980 because the law has limited scope to bring the offenders under proper punishment.

Textbook expert Mamtaz Latif, Lion MK Bashar, Chairman of Cambrian Education Group, Ziaul Kabir Dulu, President of Guardians Unity Forum also addressed, among others, the discussion conducted by CRAB organizing secretary MM Badsha.
