Robber suspect killed in Magura ‘gunfight’

Magura: A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Shonpur area of Sadar upazila in Magura early on Friday.
The deceased is Fakhrul Sheikh, in his forties, son of Nurul Islam Sheikh, a resident of Jagdal area of Magura.
Tariqul Islam, additional superintendent of Magura Police, said being tipped off that a gang of robber was taking preparation for committing robbery near Magura-Jessore road; a team of police conducted a drive around 2:00am.
Sensing the presence of police, the robbers opened fire on them, prompting them to retaliate, triggering the gunfight.
Fakhrul was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot, he said.
The robber was accused in 10 cases including of robbery, he added.
