President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday extended their heartiest congratulation to Bangladesh U-15 girls’ football team for clinching the title of the four-nation Jockey CGI Youth Football Tournament in Hong Kong.

Bangladesh U-15 girls’ football team emerged champions in the tournament drubbing host Hong Kong by 6-0 goals in their third and last match in Hong Kong today.

In a congratulatory message, President Abdul Hamid greeted all the players and officials of the team for becoming unbeaten champions in the tournament.

The President hoped that the women footballers would continue their success in the days ahead.

‘The whole nation is proud of seeing the team spirit of our players and their tremendous performance,’ she said.

Sheikh Hasina expressed the hope that the winning spree of Bangladesh girls football team will continue in future.

The prime minister also recalled Bangladesh girls' football team's brilliant performance in the inaugural edition of the SAFF Under-15 Women's Championship held in December last.

Bangladesh became unbeaten champions in that tournament as they defeated India by 1-0 in the final at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka on December 24.
