‘Non-political element’ running country doubts Mirza Fakhrul
Dhaka: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday aired a doubt whether a ‘non-political element’ is running the country.
‘I think no political party is now running the country. It’s now run by other element,’ he said.
Talking to reporters at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, he also said a political party which had fought for a long time for democracy cannot annihilate it with its own hand the way it is now being done.
Fakhrul alleged that the government has failed to ensure the minimum rights of Khaleda Zia in jail. ‘This is unprecedented in any civilized and democratic country.’
He also said the way the government is obstructing their ailing chairperson’s physicians from visiting her in the jail that manifests the government is unwilling to allow her to receive proper treatment.
