Chittagong: A man and his son were shot dead in a clash between two groups of villagers over a piece of land in Khararia village of Satkania on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased were Mohammad Idris Prokash Nabi, 60 and his son Mohammad Khaled, 23, residents of the village.

Satkania police officer-in-charge Farid Uddin Khandaker said there was a longstanding dispute over the possession of a pond between Idris and his brother Shafiqur Rahman.

As a sequel to the enmity, a clash between the two groups erupted at about 5:00pm.

Hannan opened fire on Idris and his son Khaled during the clash which left Idris dead on the spot and Khaled critically injured, said the OC quoting villagers.

The injured was rushed to Dohazari health complex, where he succumbed to his injures.
