Dhaka: The medical board formed by the government for BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s treatment on Tuesday said Khaleda has problems on her shoulder, hand and hip bones.

‘However, her blood reports were found normal,’ Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Professor Dr Shamsuzzaman Sheheen, head of the four-member medical team, told reporters in the afternoon.

The x-ray reports of Khaleda Zia suggested that she has problems in her shoulder, left hand and hip bones, said Shamsuzzaman, also the head of Orthopedic Department of DMCH.

Earlier on Saturday, Khaleda was taken to Radiology and Imaging Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for various tests including several x-rays of her bones as the medical board suggested.

On April 1, the government formed the medical team with four professors of DMCH to examine her health and ensure her treatment in the jail.

Later, the four doctors suggested conducting of some medical examinations, including x-ray on her different bones and joints and blood tests.

On completion of her tests at BSMMU, she was taken back to the jail.

On February 8 last, a special court here sentenced Khaleda to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. Since then she has been kept in Old Dhaka Central Jail.
