1 killed in Dhanmondi high-rise fire

Dhaka: A woman was killed when a fire broke out at a 12-storey building in Dhanmondi area of Dhaka in the early hours of Sunday.
At least 10 other residents of the building were also injured during the incident.
Fire Service Duty Officer Bhajan Sarkar told NTV Online the blaze caused by an electric line at the building at road no 15, Dhanmondi at about 12:30am.
The blaze spread quickly to all the floors and a car which was parked in the garage of the building. Later smoke engulfed the entire building.
The residents of the building became sick due to heavy smoke caused by the fire.
Two firefighting vans went to the spot and extinguished the fire.
Fire fighters, with assistance of local people, recovered the residents and took them to hospitals.
A 70-year-old woman lost his conscious due to the smoke and declared dead after he was taken to hospital.
