Inu accuses provocateurs of anarchy attempt

Dhaka: Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Tuesday said that the provocateurs wished for dead body to push the protesters for anarchy during the quota reform movement.
Talking to the reporters at the secretariat, he said ‘By spreading rumours, the provocateurs wished for dead body to push the protest toward anarchy during the quota reform movement.’
‘Thanks to Allah they did not get dead body’, he said, reports the UNB.
‘Quota system is not an eternal decision, it can be reviewed, reformed and re-assessed in future. The incumbent government had never launched the quota system, rather the government of Sheikh Hasina has implemented the quota system with transparency and rationality’, he said.
Information Minister said ‘Though the merit list quota is only 44 per cent but with the interference of Prime Minister around 70 per cent were appointed under the merit lists.’
Placing the statistics of previous years, Inu said in the 33rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) 77.40 per cent was appointed under merit list, in the 35th BCS it was 67.49 per cent and in the 36th BCS 70.38 per cent.
The government also in recent reform directed to appoint from merit list if special quotas fails to fill proficient candidates, he added.
