Prime accused killed in ‘gunfight’ with RAB

Keraniganj: The prime accused, in a case filed over killing of a schoolboy Abdullah in Keraniganj, was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) early on Monday.

The Keraniganj police officer-in-charge Monirul Alam said prime accused Motahar died during a gunfight in Chitakhola area of South Keraniganj.

On 30 January, police recovered the body of Mohammad Abdullah, who was 11 years old, a Class VI student of Mugarchar Government Primary School and son of Mohammad Badol Hossain, from a plastic drum at a house in Mugarchar area in Keraniganj, four days after his abduction.

Marfat Ali, grandfather of Abdullah filed a murder case on 31 January.

Later police arrested these four accused, Mehedi Hasan, Mitu Akter, son and daughter of prime accused Motahar Hossain, neighbour Al-Amin, and Khorshed Ali.
