Dhaka: Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman on Friday said that three students of Sufia Kamal Hall were handed over to their guardians on Thursday for spreading falsehood and rumours in social media.

Talking to journalists at his office, he said it was the responsibility of the hall authority to inform the guardians after identifying those students who are spreading false information, reports the BSS.

Some students of Sufia Kamal Hall were handed over to their guardians on the allegation that they had spread rumors using fake Facebook accounts that Chhatra League hall unit president Iffat Jahan Isha assaulted three students inside her room around 12:30am on April 10 for joining quota reformation movement.

‘The hall provost called the concerned students in her office, asked them to give their cell phones. Then she checked those phones and found some information regarding the rumors,’ said DU VC.
