Dhaka: The Election Commission has finally changed the delimitation of 25 parliamentary constituencies ahead of the 11th general election to be held in December next.

Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam, the chief of the EC’s committee on the delimitation of constituencies, disclosed this at a press conference in the city’s Nirbachon Bhaban on Monday, reports the UNB.

The 25 constituencies are Nilphamari-3 and 4, Rangpur-1 and 3, Kurigram-3 and 4, Sirajganj-1 and 2, Khulna-3 and 4, Jamalpur-4 and 5, Narayanganj-4 and 5, Sylhet-2 and 3, Moulvibazar-2 and 4, Brahmanbaria-5 and 6, Cumilla-6, 9 and 10, and Noakhali-4 and 5.

The EC on March 14 last published the draft delimitation of the 300 constituencies bringing changes to some 40 parliamentary seats in 16 districts.

Following the publication of the draft delimitation, the Commission received over 400 complaints about the demarcation of 60 constituencies and held hearings over the complaints from April 21 to April 25.
