20 hurt as AL rivals clash in Magura

Magura: At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two groups of local Awami League leaders and activists over establishing supremacy at Baliadi of Mohammadpur upazila in Magura on Monday evening.
Mahammadpur police officer-in-charge Riazul Islam said Yunus Shikder, a leader of Baliadi union unit of AL, had long been at loggerheads with another leader Kanchan Biswas over establishing dominance in the area, reports UNB.
As a sequel to it, a brawl ensued between the supporters of both the groups in the evening and they equipped with lethal weapons attacked each other, leaving 20 people from both sides injured, the OC added.
On information, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.
Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to fend off further trouble.
A case was filed in this connection.
