Hijra shot at Uttara

Dhaka: A hijra was shot in an attack by the members of a rival group allegedly over establishing supremacy at Uttara area in Dhaka on Tuesday morning, reports UNB.
Police said a rival group of around 6 hijras including Sima, Swapna and Khairul riding on two motorcycles attacked Senjuti during money collection from shops in front of Rajuk Commercial Shopping Centre of Sector-7 at about 10:30am.
The rival members opened fire and Senjuti suffered bullet injuries in the leg and abdomen, said Rina, another hijra and also an associate of Senjuti.
Senjuti was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical treatment.
Police said a group led by Senjuti has long been into a dispute with another group reportedly over who are real hijras among them.
