In separate incidents, a minor girl has been ‘gang-raped’ in Pirojpur while another violated in Shariatpur district.

In Pirojpur, a madrasah girl was gang-raped by two miscreants at Badura village in Mathbaria upazila on Thursday night, reports the UNB.

Police said the victim, a Class-IX student and hailing from Jamalpur, has been living at her maternal grandfather’s house at the village since the separation of her parents.

Neighbours Rumman Panchayet, 25, son of Yunus Panchayet, and Panna Panchayet, 35, son of Faruk Panchayet, stormed the victim’s room breaking open the door.

They took her to a garden where they raped her in turns.

Locals rescued the girl in the early hours of Friday and informed police.

Later, police took her to Mathbaria Police Station, said M Golam Sarwar, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Drives were underway to arrest the culprits, the OC added.

In Sariatpur, police on Friday arrested a 45-year old man for violating a four-year old girl in Sarnaghosh village of the municipality.

The arrestee was identified as Abdur Rashid Mazhi, son of Mozibor Mazhi of Charvaga village in Vedarganj upazila, said Md Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Palang Model Police Station.

Police arrested the culprit after the victim’s father filed a case with the police station on Thursday, the OC added.
