Dhaka: Activists and protestors on Saturday used social media platform to get united and hold demonstration for a cause in the city.

Taking support of a Facebook group ‘Rage Against Rape’, a right group called Spark for Serenity (SFS), held the demonstration against the sexual violence on women and children in front of National Museum at Shabagh, reports the UNB.

SFS President, engineer Adrika Eshona Purbasha, spread the news of the planned event and its schedule through the Facebook group and eventually, many people from different walks of life joined the demonstration.

Addressing the programme, Adrika, said the women were facing sexual harassment everywhere and the perpetuators are not properly punished due to lengthy legal process.

She urged for creating mass protest against all types of offences and bring significant changes in social perception about women.

Among others, Save the Environment (POBA) secretary, MA Wahed, Bangladesh Cycle Lane Bastobayon Porishad president, Aminul Islam, SFS secretary Mehedi Hasan Bhuyain also spoke at the programme.
