Dhaka: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anisul Huq, who is also minister in charge of the EC Secretariat in Parliament, told the Parliament Tuesday that the Election Commission (EC) so far distributed 4,41,359 National Identity (NID) cards with corrections.

Replying to a question from treasury bench member Waresat Hossain Belal, he said the EC received 6,13,289 applications for corrections of NID since 2007.

Besides, the government officers and employees submitted 2,65,148 applications for corrections of their NID after the publication of gazette of the national pay scale on December 15, 2015, the minister informed the House.

Meanwhile, the election commission also provided 1,23,332 NID cards with corrections against 2,65,148 applications, Anisul Huq said.

He said the government has launched one stop service for a quick delivery of services. The service has been decentralized up to upazila level, he added.
