21 rescued from Putkhali while being trafficked to India

Benapole: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members rescued 21 people from Putkhali border area on Tuesday while they were being trafficked to India.
Putkhali BGB camp Subedar Golam Ahmed said they had received intelligence that some Bangladeshis were being trafficked to India through the border. A team of the border force conducted a drive in the area and rescued the 21 people in the afternoon.
The victims comprise eight men, seven women and six children.
The human traffickers, however, fled sensing the presence of the BGB troops, said Golam Ahmed.
The trafficking victims hail from different areas of Jessore, Barisal and Narail districts.
A case was filed with Benapole Port Police Station in this connection.
