Dhaka: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will file a case against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police, Mizanur Rahman, if he continues to ‘non-cooperate’ in the investigation.

‘DIG Mizan was supposed to bring some documents before the ACC yesterday. But he did not submit those. If the non-cooperation continues in the investigation, then a case will be filed against him under the provisions of 19/3 of the ACC Act,’ ACC Secretary Shamsul Arefin told reporters on Monday, reports the UNB.

He said that the ACC investigation team told him (Mizan) to submit some necessary papers for the investigation of his wealth, allegedly accumulated through illegal means, but he did not comply.

DIG Mizan was earlier removed from the DMP for torturing a woman (a newsreader) and after then the ACC also started probing into his alleged illegal assets.

On May 3, the ACC officials interrogated Mizan for seven hours in the ACC office in Segun Bagicha when he was asked to present some documents to his property on Sunday (May 6) for investigation purpose.

The Commission summoned Mizanur Rahman on April 25 to appear before sending a letter to the office of IG in this regard.
