3 examinees ‘commit suicide’ after failing in SSC exam
At least three examinees committed suicide in separate incidents at Thakurgaon, Brahmanbaria and Tangail districts as they failed in the examination of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) this year.
The deceased were identified as Farazul Islam, 17, son of Sirajul Islam of Gulpara village in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila, Halima Aktar Moni, 17, daughter of Ayesha Aktar of Chandola village in Brahmanpara upazila in Cumilla, and Shima Aktar, of Santahar area in Pabna sadar upazila.
In Thakurgaon, Farazul, student of Mothurapur High School, hanged himself in his room after his parents criticized him for the failure on Monday afternoon.
Sub-inspector of Thakurgaon Police Station Saidur Islam said the body was handed over to victim’s family as they filed no case regarding the matter.
In Cumilla, Moni, student of Sholashahar Public School in Chattogram also hang herself with the ceiling fan of her room on Sunday night after failing in the SSC exam, said victim’s mother Ayesha Aktar.
Moni attended the exam from Chattogram staying with her father, she said.
In Tangail, another teenager Shima Aktar also hanged herself in her house on Sunday night as she failed in the SSC exam for second time at Shantosh area in Sadar upazila.
Though Shima attended exams from Pabna, she has been living with her mother and brother in Shantosh area of Tangail.
Officer-in-Charge of Kagmara Police Station Arif Faisal confirmed the matter.
Meanwhile, seven other SSC examinees also tried to commit suicide after the results were published since Sunday Afternoon to Monday morning, said on-duty doctor of emergency unit at Tangail General Hospital, Dr Sumon Pal.
Since Sunday afternoon six female examinees and a male examinee were admitted to the hospital as they drank poison and Savlon to kill themselves, he said.
