Woman’s tendon severed ‘by husband’ over dowry

Lalmonirhat: A man allegedly cut his wife’s tendon in Degree College area in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat on Sunday night over dowry money.
The victim is Sharifa, wife of Abdul Kader.
Masud Rana, officer-in-charge of Aditmari Police Station, said that Kader took Tk 1 lakh dowry from his in-laws after his marriages with Sarifa, daughter of Safiar Rahman at Barghoria village in Mohishkhocha union, 12 years ago.
Kader again pressurized Sharifa to bring Tk 50,000 more from her house and started to torture her.
Over the issue, Kader along with his family members beat up Sharifa and cut tendon of her left leg.
Police arrested Kader around 9:30pm after Sharifa’s father filed a case.
Injured Sharifa was admitted to Aditmari upazila health complex.
