Feni rail overpass partly opened to ease Dhaka-Ctg traffic jam

Feni: A part of railway overpass at Fatehpur in Feni on Dhaka-Chattogram highway was opened to traffic on Tuesday, aiming to reduce traffic jam on the highway.
The overpass was opened around 2:30pm for public, said Mohiuddin, a project manager of the Fatehpur railway overpass while talking to the reporters at Fatehpur railway overpass, reports the UNB.
The railway overpass will be opened fully before Eid-ul-Fitr, he said
High official concerned of 20 construction battalion of Cumilla Cantonment were present during the opening.
The construction work of railway overpass at Fatehpur started in 2012. Later Bangladesh Army got the task to finish the construction work.
The Dhaka-Chattogram highway is experiencing a horrible traffic jam due to work on a railway overpass in Feni for the last five days.
As of today, a 15-km tailback was created on Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Tuesday morning causing immense sufferings to the commuters.
Vehicular movement remained shut from Daudkandi Toll Plaza to Eliotganj Bridge following the tailback.
The traffic jam has been created on the Dhaka-bound road following excessive pressure of vehicles, slow move of vehicle in the toll plaza area and plying of vehicle in one lane of four-lane vehicle, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Highway Police station.
