Leaders of quota reform movement on Saturday decided to withdraw their decision of boycotting exams, but to continue with class boycott for indefinite period at all university and colleges across the country.

The protesters came up with the announcement at a press conference in front of central library of Dhaka University (DU), reports the UNB.

Nurul Haque Nur, joint convener of ‘Bangladesh General Student’s Rights Protection Alliance’ said, ‘We have postponed the decision of boycotting examinations considering the session jam and the ongoing month of holy Ramadan. But our class boycotting program will continue until the gazette is issued as per the prime minister’s decision abolishing the quota system in public services.’

Hasan Al Mamun, convener of the platform, alleged that ‘Students who are involved in quota reform movement are being harassed at different places across the country.’ 

Blaming DU authority he said ‘Without any investigation DU authority expelled a BCL leader from the University for assaulting a girl during quota reform movement. But after some days they withdrew their decision. Now the authorities have served show cause notices to other 25 students of Sufia Kamal hall who are involved in quota movement.’ 

They also threatened to launch tougher movement if the general students were harassed or any steps were taken against them.

The platform co-convener Rashed Kahan and Faruq Hossain among others were present at the press conference.
