Dhaka: Incessant rain on Wednesday morning once again inundated many parts of the major roads in the capital city causing sufferings to the commuters due to severe traffic congestion.

Most parts of the capital including Mirpur-10 intersection, Kazipara, Shewrapara, Karwanbazar and Fakirapool have been flooded due to continuous rain for more than one and a half hours.

Traffic movements on Mirpur Road from Dhanmondi stretching up to Gabtoli, Mirpur-10 intersection, Mohammadpur Town Hall Kancha Market area, Gulshan, Mohakhali, Kuril Bishwa Road, Airport Road were partially halted and remained very slow, in some of the places, due to water logging.

The Met office on Wednesday recorded 45 mm rainfall till 10:00am, said Meteorologist Nizhum Rokeya Ahmed.

The rainy weather is likely to persist till the day after tomorrow (Thursday) throughout the country, she said.

The river ports across the country have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal no. 1 (One).

Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind speed 45-60 km/h and lightning flashes is likely to occur over the regions of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakahli, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet districts, it said.
