Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday talked to ailing Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas over phone and enquired about his health condition.

She also prayed for the quick recovery of Mahmoud Abbas during the phone conversation around 5:15pm, sources at the PM’s Press Wing told UNB.

The 82-year-old Palestinian President was hospitalised thrice in the last week after he had been diagnosed with lung infection and pneumonia following his ear surgery.

Abbas is only the second leader of what is officially known as the State of Palestine. He took over after the death of Yasser Arafat in 2004.
