Dhaka: National Garment Workers Federation on Friday demanded payment of Eid bonus within June 6.

The Federation came up with the demand from a meeting held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the morning.

Amirul Haq Amin, president of the federation, said ‘Eid bonus is the legal right of garment workers. In many garments, the authorities refrain from paying Eid bonus to their workers where in some places the garment owners pay bonus as per their wish.’

They also urged the government to take necessary measures including arrest and exemplary punishment against the garments owners if they do not pay Eid bonus this year.

Later, they also brought out a flag procession around 11:00am.
