Dhaka: The High Court will pass its orders on Thursday on the bail petitions filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in two other defamation cases.

A bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim fixed the date on Tuesday after partially hearing the petitions, reports the UNB.

Deputy Attorney General Aminul Islam Manik said the court will deliver its orders after hearing Attorney General Mahbubey Alam’s arguments.

The bail petitions were filed on May 22.

One of the cases was a defamation suit filed by Bangladesh Jananetri Parisad President AB Siddik on November 3, 2016 against Khaleda Zia for distorting history of the Liberation War, and demeaning the national flag and map.

The other was filed by journalist Gazi Jahirul Islam on August 30, 2016 accusing Khaleda of observing birthday on August 15 on false information.
