Cumilla: Police recovered the body of an alleged drug addict from near a canal at Chowara in Sadar Dakkhin upazila on Thursday night.

The deceased is Monir Hossain, 45, of Ulurchar village in the upazila.

Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Dakkhin Model Police Station, said Monir did not return after he went out of his house on Thursday morning.

Later, locals spotted his body by the canal and informed police.

Police recovered the body around 8pm and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

The OC said the reason behind the death could not be known immediately.
