Provide info to police to establish rule of law: DMP chief

Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah on Saturday called upon the city dwellers to provide information to police for establishing rule of law in the country.
‘Police will ensure your security,’ the DMP commissioner said while distributing clothes among orphans and destitute people at Paltan Community Centre and Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on Saturday.
‘We are working day and night to ensure your safety. We have strictly controlled militancy and now we declared war against illegal drugs,’ said the commissioner.
The drug traders will have to face trial by any means, he said adding: ‘Those who are involved in drug trading will not be spared in anyway whoever he/she is.’
The DMP commissioner also claimed that no significant incidents of crime took place in the capital in this Ramadan till Saturday.
While distributing Eid gifts, the top official of the DMP said, ‘We are standing beside you (orphans and destitute people) with this small effort (Eid Cloths) to make your Eid joyous.’
From our moral responsibilities, we try to stay beside you in every year in Eid and winter season, the DMP commissioner added.
The DMP commissioner distributed 1500 pieces cloths included Sharee, Lungi and children dress, in Paltan Community Centre, while 1200 pieces in front of the IEB.
Senior DMP officials were present, among others, during the distribution programme.
