Narayanganj: Three people were beaten to death on robbery charge at Rupganj upazila in Narayangaj in the early hours of Saturday.

The Rupganj police said another alleged robber was injured during the incident. He was taken to a local private clinic. Later he died at the clinic.

The Rupganj police officer-in-charge Mahmudul Islam said a group of around 12 robbers intruded in Abdul Kuddus Shikder’s residence at Zindagarm village at about 3:00am.

The miscreants beat the residents of the house and looted their valuables, claimed the OC.

The police also said during the burglary, five inhabitants of the house were injured. Two of the injured are Razzak Shikder and Josna Begum.

At one stage, local people came to the spot and cordoned the house as the residents cried out for help, added Mahmudul Islam.

The villagers held three of the miscreants and beat two of them to death and another injured, said the police.
