Munshiganj: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said about 30 percent of the construction work of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge has been completed.

‘About 30 percent work of Padma Bridge has been completed . . . work of fifth pillar will begin tomorrow as the work of fourth one over the mighty River Padma ended earlier,’ he said while talking to journalists at the conference room of Padma Bridge service-area-1 at Dogachi in Sreenagar, Munshiganj.

The minister said a tourism centre like Hong Kong will be constructed here where there will be an international airport also.

He sought cooperation of all concerned to complete the Padma Bridge mega project with country's own finance within the stipulated time.

Construction work of the mega project is expected to be completed by November 2018, he added.

Executive Engineer (Rehabilitation) of the Padma Bridge Mohammad Tofazzel Hossain, Director of construction firm Abdul Momen Limited Abid Habib and Colonel M Jobayer Sarwar, among others accompanied the minister there.
