Three people, including a teenager, have been murdered in separate incidents in Jhalakati and Sylhet.

In Jhalakati, a young man was killed in a clash with rivals over a land dispute at Romanathpur village in Sadar upazila on Sunday.

The deceased is Mehedi Hasan Majumder, 25, son of Dulal Majumder of Romanathpur village.

Police said Mehedi’s rival Sahan Sadrar hacked him around 12 noon following an argument over the land dispute, leaving him injured.

Mehedi was taken to Jhalakati Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

In another incident, police recovered the body of a young man from Bhatkati village of Rajapur upazila on Sunday, eight days after he went missing.

The deceased is Sabuj Hawladar, 25, son of Mokammel Hossain of Bhatkati village.

Sabuj’s body which bore several injury marks was recovered from a garden by his house, police said.

In Sylhet, a schoolboy, Moshiur Rahman Tahmin, 16, was hacked to death by miscreants in Shibganj area of the city on Saturday night.

Around 10:30 pm, hoodlums swooped on Tahmin and chopped him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.

The entire incident was captured in CCTV camera of a nearby pharmacy.

Victim’s father said Tahmin went out with some of his friends in the evening and but did not return.

Police arrested one of his friends for interrogation, said officer-in-charge of Shah Paran Police Station Akhter Hossain.

He also said they were trying to arrest the killers scrutinising the CCTV footage.
