Chattogram: Police in a drive arrested at least 250 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir while conducting a secret meeting at Motel Saikat in the port city on Saturday night.

Assistant Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami city unit, also the registrar of International Islamic University, Azam Obaidullah, was conducting the secret meeting, said Md Mohasin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.

Being tipped-off, a police team conducted a three-hour drive from 7 pm to 10 pm after cordoning off Motel Saikat, police said.

The law enforcers also recovered a good number of mobile phones and their bags from the spot.
