Dhaka: Two suspects in Awami League leader Farhad Hossain murder case was killed in a reported gunfight with detectives in city’s Uttar Badda area early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Nurul Islam alias Killer Sunny, 30, and Amit alias Dada, 35, reports the UNB.

Tipped off, a team of Detective Branch of police conducted a drive at an under-construction building on Satarkul-Beraid road in Projapoti Garden area around 2:00am, said Mashiur Rahman, deputy commissioner (north) of DB.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the criminals opened fire to police, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.

Later, police recovered the bodies along with two firearms and bullets from the spot, he added.

Police suspected that the deceased physically took part in the Farhad Hossain killing mission.

Earlier on June 15,  Farhad Hossain, 52, general secretary of Badda union Awami League, was shot to death by unknown assailants in the city’s Uttar Badda area while coming out of Baitus Salam-Jam-e- Mosque after offering Juma prayers.

Later, criminals opened fire on police at Gudaraghat check-post on Badda-Gulshan Link Road while passing the area by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
