Dhaka: The sky remains cloudy across the country with intermittent rains due to a low over the Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas.

The authorities have been asked to hoist cautionary signal no 3 at the maritime ports of Chittagong, Mongla, Payra and Cox’s Bazar, reports the UNB.

The well-marked low over coastal Odisha and adjoining Northwest bay moved Northwestward and now lies over Jharkhand of India and adjoining area, said the Met office on Tuesday morning.

It is likely to move in a West/Northwesterly direction further. Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay and adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh, it said.

It will be influencing light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind over Barisal, Chittagong, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Khulna. Moderately heavy falls are also expected at some places.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, centre of the low and thence North-Eastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.

Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal area of the country.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no 3 (three).

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
