66.64pc pass HSC: 29,262 get GPA-5

Dhaka: The results of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) 2018 and its equivalent examinations were published on Thursday, showing a pass percentage of 66.64 percent, which is 2.27 percent lower than 68.91 percent of the last year.
Of these, 64.55 percent passed the HSC examinations while 78.67 percent came out successful in Madrasah Board and 75.55 percent in Technical Board examinations.
A total of 8,58,801 examinees, out of 12,88,757, came out successful in the examinations in all the 10 education boards of the country, reports the UNB.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over a summary of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Gonobhaban residence in Dhaka on Thursday morning, reports the BSS.
Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), Alim HSC Vocational, HSC (Business Management) and Diploma in Business Studies (DIBS) examinations were held under eight education boards, madrasa and technical education boards in April this year.
Sixty six point six four per cent students came out successfully in this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations, 2.27 per cent less than that of the last year.
Chairman of 10 education boards handed over the results of their respective board to the prime minister.
State Minister for Madrasa and Technical Education Division Kazi Keramat Ali and secretary of the Higher Secondary Education Division Sohrab Hossain also spoke on the occasion.
Principal Secretary Md. Nozibur Rahman conducted the programme which was connected with Netrakona district through video conferencing.
This year, a total of 29,262 students secured the highest grade GPA 5 against 37,969 last year.
Among the successful students, 25,562 achieved the highest grade GPA 5 under eight general education boards while 1,244 under the Madrassah Education Board and 2,456 under the Technical and Vocational Education Board.
In the HSC examination held under eight education boards, 64.55 per cent students came out successfully while the pass rate in the Madrasa Education Board is 78.67 per cent and 75.50 per cent in the Technical Education Board.
The HSC and equivalent examinations were held from April 2 to May 25 this year.

For eight general education boards, the students have to type — HSC>first three letters of the respective boards>roll number>2018 and then send to 16222.
The students of Alim have to write — AlimMad>roll number>2018 and sent to 16222 while the students of vocational courses have to type HSCTec>roll number>2018 and send to 1622.
