Gazipur: Three members of Detective Branch (DB) have been closed on charge of assaulting a nurse at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur., reports UNB.

Hospital workers’ agitation prompted the authorities to close the three policemen to the district police line, said Superintendent of Police Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid of Gazipur.

Senior Nurse Abul Fazal, general secretary of Gazipur Nurses Association, said a team of DB came to the hospital for treatment of two arrestees at about 10:00pm on Monday.

Later the DB team also tried to pick up a local man into their vehicle.

As Fazal asked the reason behind the arrest of the man, the DB team beat and assaulted him and tried to pick him up forcibly into their vehicle.

The hospital staff gathered and protested the incident.

They also observed a work abstention at night.

Later, Assistant Sub-inspector Moshrafiqur Rahman and two constables of DB were closed to the police line in the morning, said Mohammad Abdus Salam, medical officer of the hospital.

After the policemen were closed, the hospital staff withdrew their work abstention.
