Barishal: The Election Commission (EC) on Sunday issued a show-cause notice on Awami League mayoral candidate of Barishal City Corporation election Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah for violating the election code of conduct.

Helal Uddin Khan, assistant returning officer of Barishal EC, said the show-cause notice was issued on Sadiq as he held a public rally on Saturday, violating the election code of conduct, reports the UNB.

Advocate Nazimuddin Panna, a member secretary of sub-committee of the Code of Conduct and Observation of BNP, filed the complaint with the EC.

On Saturday, Awami League mayoral candidate Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah held a public rally in front of Fazlul Haq Avenue in the city around 4 pm. He also brought out a rally.
