Dhaka: A case has been filed in connection with the incident of hitting the Home Minister’s car in front of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area in the capital on Friday night.

Traffic Inspector Ekhlasur Rahman filed the case against helper Manik and driver Ibrahim Khalil Emon with Sher-e Bangla Nagar Police Station around 11:45pm, said sub-inspector Yadul, a duty officer at the police station, reports the UNB.

A bus of New Vision Paribahan hit Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan’s car in front of NICVD around 8:45pm when he was coming out of the institute after visiting a patient, said the SI.

The minister was unhurt but the rear side of the vehicle got damaged.

Police later detained the driver and helper of the bus.

The incident took place at a time when the Traffic Week, an annual programme of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police aiming to raise awareness and bring discipline in road transport, is underway. It was inaugurated by the minister on August 4.

Meanwhile, police have taken legal actions against 113,423 vehicles, realised fines amounting to around Tk 3.77 crore and seized 3,544 vehicles in separate drives against traffic rules violators across the country in three days since the Traffic Week began on Sunday.
