Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his mausoleum at Tungipara here marking his 43rd martyrdom anniversary and National Mourning Day on Wednesday.

According to PM’s tour schedule, Sheikh Hasina will offer Fateha at the mausoleum of the great leader 10am, reports the BSS.

A contingent of armed forces personnel will present a guard of honour to the PM on the occasion.

A milad and dua mahfil will be held at the mausoleum mosque at 11am seeking eternal peace of August 15 martyrs.

Marking the day, at least five hundred gates wrapped in black cloths have been erected from Gonapara to Tungipara near the mausoleum on the Dhaka-Khulna highway and from Muksudpur to Chargubra.

Placards carrying pictures of Bangabandhu were set up on either side of the roads from Gopalganj to Tungipara. Black flags have been erected in many parts of Gopalganj.

Gopalganj District Awami League General Secretary Mahabub Ali said a pall of gloom has been descended on the entire district as the National Mourning Day approaches.

District police officials said three-tier security measures have been adopted in the district including Tungipara marking the prime minister’s visit.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police and other security forces are working to provide foolproof security during the visit.
