Cox’s Bazar: An alleged robber was killed in a gunfight with his rivals at Matarbari Connecting Road in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar early on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Murad.

The Maheshkhali police said two local gangs had long been at loggerheads over committing robbery in the area.

Members of a gang opened fire to another gang, forcing its members to fire back, triggering a gunfight at about 1:00am, that left one of the robber injured, said the police.

Police went to the spot and took Murad to Maheshkhali Health Complex where he died.

However, other members of both the robber gangs managed to flee the scene.

The law enforcers also recovered two local pistols and six bullets from the spot.

The body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
